The Greyhound Starter Pack

Congrats on adopting your very own Noodle Horse! And of course, a huge welcome to the wonderful world of greyhound ownership - it's an incredible community.

Now, given a greyhound's unique shape (read: pin head on a sizeable neck), you'll want a martingale style of collar. If you haven't come across these before, it's designed such that as your grey pulls, the collar gently tightens against their neck, ensuring that the collar doesn't just slip straight off their heads. Most greys have a similar sized neck, except for some tiny females (in which case, drop a note in the ‘notes to seller’ section at checkout - we’ll size the martingale accordingly!).

In terms of walking and training, a 1.5m lead (included in this pack) is a great all rounder. This will give you plenty of flexibility to take them on little sniffaris once they’re settled in - a great way to explore their new ‘hood or decompress after a training session! The 1.5m also isn’t too bulky when you need to double it over for a short leash when waiting at the pedestrian crossing, or simply for lead training in general.

There are a number of grey owners who prefer to walk their hounds with a harness. The problem you mind find, though, is that because of their especially deep chest, a lot of other harnesses out there tend not to fit greys quite so well. The Greyhound Harness solves that problem! This harness was designed with lots of testing on a bunch of gorgeous greys, and this was the result!
A harness is a great option for recall training or bushwalks in State Forests, and an essential for travel in the car, as high pressure on their necks is not ideal.

Harness: Each harness is custom made to size, so measurements are always useful! If you could pop them in the notes section at checkout (click 'view order summary'), that'd be great.
To measure your pup, put the measuring tape around the widest point on their chest, and at the base of their neck (where their neck joins their chest) as per the diagram in the FAQ page: https://www.thepointedpup.com.au/faqs.

If you haven’t yet had the chance to meet your grey, that’s all okay! Most female greys will fit one size, and male greys another size. If you’re adopting a larger female, a smaller male, or an especially large male, just drop a quick note in the ‘notes to seller’ section at checkout and we’ll be in touch to sort it out.
